Wax painting

Over the past few weeks I have been experimenting with blurring the line between what defines a painting and a sculture. First I was leaving acrylic paint and glue to dry and then bending it until it holds its own structure and is free standing.
I was then looking at making plaster casts and pouring wax or paint over the top of the sculpture. I found that I was only using plaster so I could justify that it was a sculpture so I have decided to strip it back to what i really love about the materials, the way the wax or paint builds up the more that is added and the way it creates its own journey. Here are a few detailed photographs of a wax painting experiment that I did through melting wax crayons.
